Hello there, I'm Adam, I'm 20 and I'm a student!
I bought my C5 a little while ago on eBay and I've been working on various things for it even since! I'm currently suffering from broken axle syndrome, which should be cured when my replacement axle arrives on Thursday.
I've done quite a bit of work on it already. A good strip down, sanded the paint (& rust!) from the axle, primed and painted that and washed & assembled everything again. I bought a nice big 85AH leisure battery from eBay, which has so far seen me to Cambridge and back, seemingly without running down (but I'll get to that in a bit...)
I've replaced the tyres, bought a set from C5alive. They seem to be doing well.
I'm in the process of trying to make a new set of battery leads with an integrated power switch. I've gotten one of those "battery master" switches that they use on racing cars, with a big chunky red key. I'm probably going to make a plastic box to fit around the battery, perhaps with an indicator switch on it too... not sure about that yet!
I think I've found a set of indicators which *might* match, Yamaha ones:

(I could either fit them high up or cut the plastic to match the wheel contour I think...) Front ones look much easier to find.
So back to the pod. Basically, during the day the lights are almost invisible, I first thought they'd worn out (as LEDs do, I've seen it on 5 year old PC keyboards, so a 25 year old C5 seemed likely to me) but after further inspection I'm not sure if they are. There's 5v on pin 8 of the ULA, so at least one regulator is ok, I need to check the other one! I may also do a complete capacitor replacement, as the old electrolytics can leak after a number of years! I've not had the control box apart yet, looks to be melted shut at the back and I'd prefer not to damage it, so I'll do that when I have time to do it properly.
*phew*
Anyway, other than the slight confusion of two seemingly completely independent communities for the C5, it seems to me that there's quite a following for these machines, which I think I'm happy to be a part of :-)
