Hello!  I'm Matt, and i live in Sutton, near Ely, Cambs (CB6).  I'm new to the C5 - have ALWAYS wanted one and was fortunate enough to pick up TWO in one listing from eBay.  Both are in pretty good nick and I've given one to my 14 year old son, Christopher.

My best mate is very mechanically minded and he's got both cars at his house at the moment.  There are no batteries with my C5's so having read up a bit I've come to the conclusion that a leisure battery is the most viable option.

Can't wait to get them going.  I do live at the bottom of a small hill (not massive gradient) so not sure whether they'll struggle with this (?) and not sure if it's a 'spur of the moment' thing or not!

Anyway, feel free to get in touch with any tips!

Hello ! Cheesy

Mine was on Ebay at about the same time, £72 ! I'll find out if it was a bargain when i pick it up tomorrow night, apparently its only ever been ridden for 1 mile.... Doesnt run now, flat tyres and very dusty.  Like you i always wanted one but my dad stopped me when they came out in 1985.

Wow £72! Well done - surely you can't go wrong at that price? Good luck with it mate - perhaps we'll bump into each other on a meet at some point!  where are you from, Gary?

Cheshire, very flat round here thankfully. Miles from Cambridgeshire, probably about 20 batteries away!

LOL! I don't think ANYONE who's owned a C5 has ever parted with it because it was "one of those spur of the moment things" - these little guys get under your skin and I swear they've got a personality of their own! Cheesy

I always wanted one as a kid, I grew up in the Welsh Valleys, just down the road from the Hoover factory where they were made (it was fun going back there last April with for a C5 run from the Hoover factory all through the villages I grew up in as a kid!).  I did a similar "spur of the moment" thing on ebay 18 months ago and bought a C5 for £170 which promptly broke down LOL but after a bit of TLC from Mark ex-C5Alive and a few spare parts it's been running like a dream ever since!  I managed to blow up the pod and kill the motor box in the meantime but the learning curve on these badboys is great and I've come a long way in a short time as they say!! Smiley

My 4 year old son loves the C5, he is convinced it's a super-fast flying machine I think! Cheesy He holds onto the front cowl above the pod for dear life whenever we take it for a spin and he laughs all the way! Wink

Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I'm 100% convinced you'll love your C5s - I can also guarantee that it'll cause you a few sleepless nights trying to work out what's broken and how to fix it too! LOL - all part of the fun, the frustration you feel when they're broken makes it all the sweeter when the little buggers work!! Smiley
